How long is a goat pregnant?
A goat is pregnant for about 150 days, or five months. The Merck Veterinary Manual gives a range of 145 to 155 days. Breed, litter weight, environment and the number of past kiddings can all shift the date.
Oklahoma State University Extension gives 146 to 155 days for meat goats. Both sources agree on about 150 days, which is what this tool uses.

How to use the kidding calculator
Enter the date the doe was bred, or the day the buck went in. The tool adds 150 days for the kidding date and shows the 145 to 155 day window. The calendar adds deworming, feeding and kidding pen dates.
If several does ran with one buck, use the first day he was in. Oklahoma State advises being ready a day or two before the first possible date.
Goat due date formula
Kidding date equals breeding date plus 150 days. The normal window is breeding date plus 145 days to breeding date plus 155 days. A doe bred January 1, 2026 is due about May 31, 2026.
Kidding date = breeding date + 150 days
Key dates in a goat pregnancy
Oklahoma State advises no deworming from day 20 to day 60, or in the 2 to 3 weeks before kidding. Merck says the last 6 weeks carry the highest risk of pregnancy toxemia, because about 80% of kid growth happens then.
- Days 20 to 60: avoid the stress of handling and deworming. Some dewormers can cause abortion (OSU).
- Last 6 weeks: does with twins or triplets, and does that are too fat or too thin, need closer feeding and checks (Merck).
- Kidding: a mucous discharge is a sure sign that kidding is close. Have kidding pens ready.

How many months is a goat pregnant?
About five months. 150 days is close to five calendar months.
Do Nigerian Dwarf goats have a different gestation?
Our sources give one range for goats, 145 to 155 days. They do not list breed by breed figures, so use the window and watch the doe.
Is a doe overdue at day 155?
Day 155 is the end of the normal range in Merck. Call your vet if she goes past it or shows signs of illness.
